Gabe’s first semester at Somerset University has been a fail. And not just a fail, but an epic fail. On top of being a benchwarmer on the hockey team, he’s also bored in his classes and not excelling in his social life as much as he’d like.

When it’s time to head home for the holidays, Gabe knows he’s going to have to admit all of this to his family. The problem? Well, besides the embarrassment of it all there’s also the fact that his family will likely use his mediocre performance at school as just another reason he should move back home and take over the family business.

But that’s not what Gabe wants. He has dreams, and he has those dreams for a reason. If only it were that easy.

When Lacey, an old friend from childhood, re-enters Gabe’s life, he finds in her a confidant who understands having a dream that feels unattainable. In him, she finds the same assurance—mixed with a whole lot of feelings she’d thought were gone for good. But the holiday season is one with unexpected merriment, and sparks fly by the second.

Romance is fine and all, but that doesn’t change Gabe’s problems at school. Or does it? Maybe, with the right woman by his side—and a teeny tweak in mindset—it really can be that easy.

This short read is an interracial contemporary new adult hockey romance with a BWWM pairing and a happy ending.

Genre: Romance
