A novel by

When Norman knight Jobert de Brevrienne claims Oxbury in the name of William the Conqueror, he discovers that one of the Saxon defenders is the daughter of the eorle who ruled the settlement. Realizing he needs her skills as a chatelaine and her rapport with the villagers so Oxbury will continue to prosper, Jobert makes peace with Edeva. But as they work together to restore order and prepare for winter, he worries the blond "hellcat" will betray him to the rebels as soon as his back is turned. Even more troubling is the realization he's falling in love with her.

Edeva vows to kill the Norman monster who has overrun her family's lands and stolen her heritage. But when he shows himself to be reasonable and just, her animosity begins to ease. She finds herself torn between aiding her brothers, who seek vengeance against the usurper, and her longing for the handsome knight, who has conquered her heart even as he takes control of her homeland.
