The Highwayman

(1955)
A novel by

He robbed by day ... and loved by night.

His reputation was more notorious than that of any other man in New England.

Some whispered that he was a renegade Englishman robbing the rich; others said his accent was French.

But to the young, glowingly beautiful Mercy Pepperrell, no rumors mattered.

True, he had robbed her father, but he had kissed her as she had never been kissed before.

Mercy learned the stranger's secret - too late.

Taken as a hostage into the most dangerous campaign of the French and Indian Wars, she dared all for his love, and for her life.

'The Highwayman' is a captivating historical romance set amongst the burgeoning society of post-independence America.
