CHRISTMAS Following a series of disastrous dates and losing her job as a room attendant at a top London hotel, Ruby Penrose heads home to Cornwall for Christmas. Her dreams of making it as a screenwriter failed and she has no idea what to do next.

Reality TV star Jake Woodhouse was delighted to find a small, isolated Cornish cottage to rent for the holidays. He aims to spend his days there in peace and quiet, licking his wounds, his only company his faithful, but stubborn, British bulldog, Sherlock Bones.

But as Ruby and Jake are drawn together by the magic of the festive season and the Little Cornish Gift Shop, they both begin to realise that sometimes it is possible to learn to trust again, and that friendship can be the most valuable Christmas gift of all.

SPRING Jake Woodhouse has stayed on at Driftwood Cottage for longer than he planned, but he just can't seem to find the will to move on. It's partly to do with the fact that he loves the location, but also because he doesn't like the idea of leaving his friend Ruby Penrose behind.

Ruby is enjoying being back in Cornwall, working at the Little Cornish Gift Shop, eating all the delicious food her nanna makes and spending time with Jake. Her creative flair and enthusiasm for writing has returned and she's been working on a few different projects.

Jake is forced to consider his options following a shock phone call from his mother. He still has issues from his past hanging over him and he knows he can't really move on until he deals with them.

When Jake leaves, Ruby knows it's for the best, but she can't help wondering what might have happened if he had stayed.

SUMMER Summer has come to Bothilde Bay and Ruby Penrose is savouring the calm pace of life in the Cornish village. Her close friend, Jake Woodhouse, is staying nearby and they are enjoying spending lots of time together.

When a mysterious stranger arrives at the little gift shop, Ruby is worried about her nanna's reaction. Why has this man's presence upset Harriet Martin?

Jake has his own problems when a figure from his past turns up with news that he just can't take in. How could this have happened and what is he going to do about it? He thought he had left the life of a reality TV star far behind him, but it seems that he was wrong.

Following weeks of fun and laughter, misunderstandings and disappointments, Ruby gets the surprise of a lifetime. But will she want what Jake is offering, or will she decide she is better off alone?
