Sandra Gulland recommends
The Boy in the Rain (2023)
Stephanie Cowell
"The Boy in the Rain is a novel I hated to put down and was sorry to see end. It's rare for that alone, but it's also an important novel about injustices that linger on today. Stephanie Cowell is a wonderful writer."
The Portraitist (2022)
Susanne Dunlap
"Deeply researched and imagined, The Portraitist offers a fascinating and dramatic plunge into the world of a brilliant female artist struggling to make her mark before and during the turbulent and treacherous era of the French Revolution. I loved this novel."
The Almost Wife (2021)
Gail Anderson-Dargatz
"Gail Anderson-Dargatz is a wonderful storyteller. The Almost Wife is a dangerously gripping page-turner, a psychological thriller which shows how the past can blind one to life-and-death threat, twist after breathtaking twist. Don't count on getting any sleep."
