The two quickly become lovers, both as a result of their irristiable attraction for each other, and also to allow Thorvald to protect Livina from both his father Erik the Red, and his brother Leif.

eif discovers this betrayal, and turns it to his own advantage. After the shieldmaiden Revna was defeated by Livina, Revna should have been killed as an honored, but defeated, warrior. That Livina failed to do so and offered her mercy is a humiliation for Revna, her potential lover Leif, and every Viking who accompanied Revna from Iceland. Now she has no choice but to accept Leif's amaorous intentions and sparks fly as he manipulates her into accepting him as her lover.

But what neither brother knows is that Erik the Red killed Revna's father, and she arrived in VInland with no other plan but to kill both sons of Erik the Red in revenge. Now that Leif has become her lover, will she abandon her plans, or merely try to kill Erik the Red outright?
