From the sinking of the TITANIC through the end of the WWI, Grace Tooley and her family face nearly unbearable heartache and loss. As brother after brother is killed, Grace falls in love with one man, marries another, and loses her own child. Carole Boyd is the perfect choice to perform this rambling romance as her lovely voice moves lightly through the story. This is not serious literature, and Boyd doesn't treat it as such. Her characterization of Grace shows some excitement in the steamy parts but not enough to cause a blush. Her young children are exuberant without succumbing to squeakiness, and her elderly housekeeper provides the right tone of sharpness tempered with affection. R.P.L.
