A novelette of 18,000 words, sequel to the Dragonsbane-Winterlands series. Horrible dreams seem to be summoning Dragonsbane John Aversin and his sorceress partner Jenny Waynest to the southern realm of Teruvar... but the messenger who arrives to beg them to come admits that absolutely nothing has happened there... yet. Nor can he explain why the Summons went out or even who is using powerful magic to Summon them, since there is supposedly a magical Guardian who protects the place already. Yet when they arrive they find not only deadly intrigues surrounding a princess being used as a cats-paw by her family, but an ancient and horrible threat poised to surge from the magic-soaked Pulp of the Earth.
