A conference happens. They are both sent out, where Ariel meets with an ex of hers Ron. Ron and she immediately begin talking and are friends, but Quinn gets jealous.
However, Ron tries to court her, and moments before he kisses her she pushes him away, saying that she cant. He asks why, and she tells him its because she doesnt feel this way about him, that her heart is somewhere else.
She finds Quinn over at a billiard table, playing. At first, they argue about this, but then, later on, Ariel talks about Ron, how he was a man who led her on, and how she fell for him hook, line and sinker, but then realized she made the mistake. She says she feels strongly for Quinn, and the two of them end up kissing and having sex, and Ariel begins to realize she might be in love with him, which terrifies her.
But at the end of the book, she looks into his eyes. She asks about the future when suddenly, a phone call interrupts them.
