(2022)
A Novella by

After years of what seemed like a good marriage, Lydia finds out that her husband, Henry, has been cheating on her. Before she can confront him with the knowledge, he drops a bombshell on her -- he wants an open marriage. Stunned and unsure of what to do, she accepts his proposal for the sake of buying time and not ruining the holiday season for their eleven-year-old daughter Sophie.

The woman who told Lydia about the affair, Melody, unexpectedly shows up at Lydia's place of work, stricken by the guilt of being the "other woman" and curious to find out more about why she agreed to open the marriage after she found out he cheated. Lydia finds herself drawn to Melody who appears to be her polar opposite in every way -- a career-oriented, independent black woman. Their unlikely friendship blossoms despite concerns from Lydia's friends and it dawns on Lydia that her feelings toward Melody may be more than just platonic.

Now Lydia has to navigate the complex web of emotions of still being married to Henry, trying to protect her daughter from the fallout, and figuring out if what she feels for Melody is real or not.
