The story of Frankie, a cold hungry boy living in darkness at the top of a huge old house, while his mother pursues her own mysterious life in a warm, bright room downstairs. Frankie knows she will summon him, perhaps today, perhaps tomorrow and he awaits her call with dread and longing.
