After fleeing from the Taxah sector, Captain Foster and the XSV Johannes Kepler venture to the Radiance Union, the location of the one person in the galaxy that can heal a mortally wounded crew member.
A revolutionary cult in the Union has other plans, presenting Foster as a sacrifice to their deity. And then unlocking the secrets within the ancient ship as their reward.
It's a deity the dragons are all too familiar with, and a reward they want for themselves.
In order for peace to be restored to the Milky Way, Foster must participate in an inevitable race across the stars to find the ancient ship, before the revolutionaries or the dragons do.
If the revolutionaries find the ancient ship first, we become slaves. If the dragons find the ancient ship first, we all die.
Captain Foster must win a race she hasn't started.
