The Abandoned Rake

When Joanna Winterton's fiance is killed, she finds it difficult to mourn him since she scarcely knew her betrothed and had scant admiration for what she did know of him. Certainly, she is relieved to be free of such an odious commitment. So, rather than endure the spurious sympathy of society, she retreats to the Lake District in the hope that the world will have forgotten her loss by the time she returns. Meanwhile, Sir Lucas Montfort flees to the Lakes to heal his wounded pride after he is left waiting - quite abandoned - at the altar. When he crosses paths with Joanna in Grasmere neither party is pleased...but the reluctant pair may soon find that they have more in common than they think...
