Dry Bones

(2012)
A novel by

Holder (Oklahoma) Senior Police Officer Aaron Clement is pursuing a cold case based on the skeletal remains of two boys between the ages of 10 and 12. The bones lie in Clement's office where he takes their presence very much to heart. But before he can get back to his musing over the case, two other brutal crimes occur in Holder, and though not on call, the eccentric Clement must take charge. The son of a corrupt and ousted older officer, Clement isn't about to let anyone here get away with murder. Unless, of course, he feels sympathy for the killer.

Short story Edgar winner, NYTimes-heralded G. Miki Hayden makes readers cry as well as laugh, and sometimes simultaneously. The prose of the author of Writing the Mystery and The Naked Writer, two writing instructionals, is delightfully pristine.
