After Kari helped Miss June and friends solve an old estate mystery, she was rewarded for her efforts with a puppy - a very large, Great Dane puppy. But once she finally arrived in Appleton, she found that her accidental sleuthing was just getting started. So, it was good that she now had a furry sleuth companion by her side!
Kari's first client, Miss Ashley, was accused of a murder no one wanted to solve, which meant that Kari was going to have to do it herself if she wanted to prove her client's innocence. And then Mr. Cooter was arrested for the crime of Murder by Bowling Ball and seemed content to stay in jail despite Kari's best efforts to represent him.
It seemed that in order to prove herself at her new job, Kari had to become a sleuth instead of just a lawyer. But at least she was constantly being rewarded with delicious Southern hospitality and even more delicious Southern food!
