(2023)
(The fourth book in the Wootton Windmill Mystery series)
A novel by

A missing chef. The wrong body. Three women sleuths.

It's late autumn in Lower Wootton and the neighbourhood foxes are ruining Ellie Blix's sleep. So, when she sees three people in a hot air balloon at dawn, she thinks nothing of it.

But when her daughter, Zoe, says she also saw the balloon, and the two people in it were having a row, Ellie realises something is wrong.

In the morning, a popular local chef is missing. He was meant to celebrate his brother's wedding anniversary ... in a hot air balloon - but didn't turn up. Desperate for answers, the chef's distraught wife pleads with Ellie to find out: if her husband is alive, where is he? If he's dead, what happened?

Then a body turns up and it's unclear whose it is. With a range of suspects, and conflicting testimonies, Ellie and her sleuthing partners must solve a web of deceit in their sleepy village - before someone else gets hurt.
