Jill Hucklesby was born in Brighton, and started her writing career at the tender age of five. She later gained an honours degree in English and Drama and went on to work in theatre, journalism and PR for arts and medical organisations and UK charities, including Great Ormond Street Hospital. She has written for stage and children's television and was nominated for the Television Arts Performance Showcase comedy writing award at BAFTA. She has written three previous novels for young people, including If I Could Fly, which was shortlisted for the Waterstone's Prize, and Deeper than Blue which won the 1066 Schools' Book Award, was shortlisted for the Bolton Children's Book Award and the Spellbinding Award, and longlisted for the Branford Boase Award. This is her second novel for Egmont.
