Sherlock Holmes and the Adler Papers
(2001)(A book in the Sherlock Holmes Mystery series)
A novel by John Hall
An incriminating photograph threatens the reign of a Bohemian king, and the peace of his nation.
Stolen from the king by his illegitimate brother and cousin, the evil pair plan to publish the photograph unless the king agrees to abdicate and hand over power to them.
Mrs Norton, the subject of the picture, invites Holmes and Watson to prove the king's innocence and save the kingdom from a bitter civil war.
But as soon as Holmes and Watson arrive in Bohemia, complications and a thread of lies make it near impossible for them to get to the bottom of the mystery. What follows is a journey full of twists and turns right until the very end - the question is, can the two men solve the crime in time before all enemies of the king rise to power?
Sherlock Holmes and the Adler Papers is the sixth of John Hall's Sherlockian pastiches and a brilliant addition to the Holmes and Watson casebooks.
John Hall spent many years in the civil service before becoming a professional writer specialising in crime fiction. His book Death of a Collector won the Sherlock Magazine's competition for the best new fictional detective. He is also the author of several other Sherlock mysteries.
