He’s fallen into another world… they need a hero!
Now he must learn to fight magic while on the run from it. And he’s marked for certain death by evil mages unless he fights back!

Mark was just another ex-soldier trying to forget his demons when he woke up somewhere else, and with no idea how he got there or how to get home. Worse, he’s the double of the missing heir to the Duchy of Palma, but without a scrap of his magical powers which control the fabled stone gryphons. What neither he, nor those who persuade him to act as Marcus Palma-Fayre’s double, expect is for the gryphons to suddenly start moving! He can’t control them, the late duke’s remaining brother can’t either, but it becomes clear that somebody can.

In
Bane in the Stone, Mark finds himself up to his neck in assassination attempts while the gryphons rain chaos onto the city of Staer-Dushan, and long-lost and all but forgotten magic reappears. Against the odds it is Mark’s experience of a very different kind of fighting which might yet avert disaster!

Gryphons’ Chase is the second book in the Return of the Gryphons series, with Mark and his new friends fleeing the fallen city of Staer-Dushan, and encountering the full powers of the insane mages of the Khol-Reyne, who have claimed the Duchy of Palma as their own. Desperately trying to evade capture, along the way they must deal with kidnappings, a returning crazed claimant to the neighbouring empire’s throne, and magical explosions nobody can control. And all of that whilst trying to find out who created the beasts in the first place!

Live-Stone Hunters is the third book in the Return of the Gryphons series. Mark has convinced his friends that they must seek out the Delven, the people who first carved out the magical beasts, but first they have to get to the Delven’s home territory in the mountains during winter. Worse, there’s another more powerful mage on the loose who hates the Khol-Reyne, and with his own agenda but he hates some of Mark’s friends even more! The gryphons are hunting, but they’re not the only hunters!

The quartet concludes with
Raising the Beasts. The Delven and the Narwal Horde have joined Mark and his friends in the fight back against the Khol-Reyne, but they could yet be betrayed from within. There’s precious little time left before the Khol-Reyne become unassailable and the Duchy’s is doomed forever. Can Mark find the vital weakness in the Khol-Reyne’s magic and hold everyone together as he does it?
