Martin’s life was much less interesting than the crime fiction he regularly read, until he decided to write his own mystery, working on the story during his daily commute and writing in a blue spiral notebook. Then an attractive, green-eyed woman struck up a conversation, and Martin's story took a very sharp turn.
The Woman on the Train was originally published in Futures Mysterious Anthology Magazine (Fall, 2003) as The Blue Notebook. Mary Ellen Hughes is the author of the Craft Corner Mystery Series (Wreath of Deception, String of Lies, and Paper-thin Alibi) and the Maggie Olenski Series (Resort to Murder and A Taste of Death). She resides in Maryland, the setting of most of her fiction.
