The setting: San Francisco forty-some years ago. Mike Isherwood (“Call me Ish,”) comes to town to take up a job offer with the failing A.H. Abner Detective Agency, hoping to fulfill his dreams of becoming a Jim Rockford-style P.I. Complications ensue: he meets Sue Ellen Vanderhog, a country girl looking for her oddball brother, and it looks like A.H. Abner’s nemesis, the gangster Modie Bick, has somehow reappeared cruising around Frisco in his signature white Cadillac, twenty-five years after he drowned in the bay. As Mike hunts the great white Caddie, Sue Ellen’s brother turns out to be one of a group of Neo-Nazis plotting to blow up the US Customs building on the waterfront. The stage is set for an explosive climax.
