The dwarf Regin is one of a royal family of dwarves in Norse myth. He is a smith, and he falls under a curse from Loki, as does his brother Fafnir. He becomes the foster father for the hero Sigurd, and complications ensue. A 5800-word story, first published in the DAW anthology SWORDPLAY in 2009.
