FIRST SIGNET PRINTING. Nov. 1977 mass market paperback, Ray Hogan (The Wolver). Sam Remington loves horses and has been a driver (jehu) for the stageline now for 10 years. He is 50 and the line, Valley Stage Lines, founded by Jeremiah Crenshaw, now operated by Jeremiah's somewhat idot son, has decided Sam is too old and needs to retire. A new man, Billy McElroy, has been hired to replace Sam and Sam has been "put out to pasture" with the rest of the older "horses". One problem no one knows about: Billy McElroy isn't of much use (never has been) and has told many lies to qualify for the job, & with the new and younger "idot" owner, that wasn't too difficult.
