Mervyn Corwen has always felt particularly drawn to Greece. Orphaned at a young age, he spent every summer of his youth with his uncle Bertram on a beautiful Greek island. Then Mervyn meets and falls in love with Moira, one of his art students and thirteen years his junior. When Melvyn asks her to marry him and move with him to Greece permanently, Moira thinks that all her dreams are finally coming true. But she finds Greece to be a strange place. Coming from a large, close-knit family, she misses the home and the friends left behind in England. Marriage to Mervyn may be all she has ever dreamed of-but perhaps she should have been more careful what she wished for.
