This Christmas finds librarian Beverly Malone with a bad case of the bah humbugs. Although she was hoping to draw the name of her crush, Nick Watts for her Secret Santa recipient, she drew the name of her nemesis, Queenie Claymore instead. There goes Bev's dream of slipping some naughty-yet-nice gifts in Nick's Christmas stocking.
Meanwhile, a neighbor in their senior development is almost electrocuted after plugging in her roof lights. The sheriff calls it accidental. Nothing to see here. End of story.
This Christmas tale, though, has a wicked plot twist, and Bev and Queenie must once again set aside their squabbles and team up to investigate. Clues from the victim’s yard point toward a costume worn by elves at Santa's FunWorld. But which elf would try to kill the reigning champion of the Christmas display competition? A contest rival? A jealous boyfriend? Or could it be hottie Nick Watts, who Queenie swears is up to no good?
More importantly, can Bev and Queenie solve this mystery before the bad elf strikes again and actually commits murder?
