Stuart Hill is the prize-winning author of the Icemark series. He won the inaugural Ottakar's Children's Book Prize, (now the Waterstone's Children's Book Prize) in 2005. In the same year he was awarded the Highland Book Award and in 2006 the Medway Book Award. He has also been long-listed for the Carnegie Award. Stuart's works are also included in the Ofsted list of books designed to encourage boys to read.
Stuart is a devoted reader of ghost stories and is an avid fan of M R James, the Edwardian master of the genre. He describes himself as an overnight success as it only took him thirty one years of rejections before he was finally published.
