Captain Jed Grisham and his crew thought theyd escaped the AxKol warship Gholaxas. They were wrong, and now the enemy vessel is in pursuit of the Voltran.
At first, Grisham has no idea how the AxKol are able to track his warship through lightspeed, but as time goes on, he begins to think that perhaps his own nascent telepathic powers are acting like a beacon.
As Grisham does his best to evade the Gholaxas, he finds himself drawn to a mysterious artifact the Andos - on a long-dead world. This artifact points the way to something unknown, located far from the planet on which he finds it.
Unfortunately for Grisham, the AxKol want the Andos too, and they also want to know what the artifact has been hiding for so many millions of years.
On this mission, the Gholaxas will be the least of Grishams worries. The enemy have far more potent vessels in their fleet, as he will soon find out. The pursuit will be relentless.
As ever, the stakes are high. The AxKol have located the first Human Federation world and its only a matter of time before their fleets arrive. The lives of fifty billion people hang in the balance.
