When is a joke not a joke?

Miss Emma Lee, neighbour to Ishbel and Ewan, is being disturbed by a series of bizarre pranks involving her late father’s hat. Unnerved by it and bemused as to why she is the unknown culprit's target, she turns to the duo for help.

They are still living on their country estate, Ishbel having given birth to Meg, their second child, recently. Emma is one of Ishbel’s closest friends and she and Ewan believe this will be a quick, safe mystery to solve, bringing no danger to their family. They are wrong on both counts.

When the prankster’s tricks turn deadly, no one is safe. The amateur detectives must use all their skills to protect their neighbours and their own lives whilst solving the riddle of who is responsible and why.

The unconventional detectives are back for an eighth exciting novel in the historical mystery series set in Scotland in the Georgian era.
