Hilary Jones is a writer and medical broadcaster who has been the resident doctor on ITV breakfast shows including Good Morning Britain and Lorraine Kelly’s show, Lorraine, for over 35 years and has been described as the UK’s most well-known and trusted GP. His TV broadcasts have covered breaking medical news stories internationally, as well as at home.

His first novel Frontline (2021), set during the First World War, was inspired by the COVID-19 pandemic, the medical and nursing staff that helped us through it and the parallels between that and the devastating Spanish flu of 1918. The second novel, Eye of the Storm (2022), follows the lives of the same medical family through the inter-war years up to the Spanish Civil War. Under Darkening Skies (July 2025), completes the trilogy. It is the final sweeping drama set between 1936 and 1948 in war-ravaged Europe, following the extraordinary story of penicillin and the remarkable men and women who trialled and produced it.

His non-fiction books include What’s Up Doc, A Day in your Life, Your Child’s Health, I’m Too Busy to be Stressed, A Change for the Better and Doctor, What’s the Alternative?

Hilary lives in Kent with his wife Dee and has five children, two stepchildren and six grandchildren. Find his health-related podcast ‘The Dr Hilary Show’ on YouTube and Spotify and follow him on X, Instagram and Facebook.
