Nurse-practitioner Wyn Miller is looking forward to a week of quality time with her cat Sal and the rest of the clowder while all her patients have gone home to spend time with family for Christmas. But then a stranger dies on the road to Harrisfield, and what initially looks like a natural death by hypothermia quickly turns into suspicious circumstances.
It's possible the victim was coming to consult Wyn, so she can't enjoy the holiday until she solves the multiple mysteries the dead woman presents: who was she, why was she walking to town at night in dangerously cold weather, and, most important of all, who killed her?
Note that this story is a novella, approximately 30,000 words, a bit less than half the length of the other stories in the series.
Genre: Cozy Mystery
