They've built a new life in the mountains.

It's been four years since the disastrous trip to Newpost. Between hard work, the windfall of a deceased husband, and the help of friends, Tom, Kristy, and Skyler have turned a mountain man's winter lodge into a home for a new family, and the mountain valley into a successful ranch.

Unfortunately, it's not all peace and prosperity: Sangue, the invading bandits from South America, have been slowly and steadily spreading across the Southwestern United States.

Tom and Kristy always feared it was only a matter of time before Sangue got to Emery, Utah, and when he discovers that Grand Junction, the only place standing between them and the invading enemy, has finally fallen, he faces the grim reality that the time may be now.

Skyler, on the other hand, wants to fight. He's seen how Sangue has hurt his loved ones, watched those closest to him struggle to recover from the trauma over the years, and wants to stop the enemy from ever hurting anyone else again. He's spent the last four years learning to survive from Tom, and constantly chafes at the mountain man's overcautious nature and unwillingness to let him go into danger.

They'll both do whatever it takes to protect those they love.

For Skyler, that might mean admitting the wisdom of not poking the bear.

For Tom, it might mean accepting that sometimes there's no choice but to fight.
