The Protectorate is being invaded.
Having safely escaped from the occupied city of Renais, Kale and his friends aboard the Sylph agree that their next destination should be Ikrith Skyhold. With Captain Avernus's family finally safe their thoughts turn to their friends in their home skyhold, who may be punished for the Sylph's decision to go renegade rather than fire on a Revenant airship. On the way Avelya hopes to learn to fly the two rocs she captured from the Invaders, and with them gain the true freedom and exhilaration of flying.
Their trip home will take them past warring Corsairs and Revenants, with invading armies hot on their heels attacking cities and besieging skyholds. And once their friends are safe they must decide what a lone renegade airship can do to save the Protectorate.
