A "hood poet" typically refers to a poet who hails from or is inspired by urban or impoverished neighborhoods, often associated with challenges, struggles, and social issues. Hood poetry often reflects the experiences, culture, and realities of these communities. It may touch on topics such as poverty, crime, inequality, and resilience. These poets often use their art to shed light on issues affecting marginalized communities and express the unique perspectives and voices of people living in these areas. Hood poetry can be a form of social commentary and a means of advocating for change and understanding…

Wave Porter is far from the typical heartthrob you'd find in magazines or on your TV screen. A traumatic childhood incident left him with the left side of his face disfigured, drawing unwanted attention. Yet, where Wave may lack in appearance, he compensates with extreme charm and intellect. Growing up in foster care and fending off bullies for most of his childhood, he possesses a unique perspective on the world, shaped by his experiences.

Trent Taylor is a tough, yet facetious Mayor who is all but for his people. However, to the public he’s their hero. Wave can peep game from a nosebleed seat, so he enters the mayor’s office to proposition him. Trent sees Wave as nothing more than a ghetto statistic with a burnt face. However, it's through Trent's daughter, Zoya, that the story takes an unexpected turn.

Zoya is the epitome of a soft girl but despite growing up privileged, she shares an uncommon passion and perspective with Wave. Their meeting sparks a profound connection that challenges them to grow and see beauty beyond the surface.

Zoya is eventually introduced to a part of life she’d never experienced. Wave excites her hidden wild side and she challenges him to be a better version of himself. Some perceive Wave as a monster but Zoya realizes that Wave is deeply misunderstood. He comes with many layers and the beauty that lies at the bottom of his heart is soon revealed. In Zoya, wave sees more than a spoiled rich girl and through their bond, he discovers that her life is just as hectic as his.

They say money is the root of all evil but when it comes to love, it all runs through the same valve. And when those around Wave and Zoya see the strong connection they have, it breeds jealousy, maliciousness and exposes unspoken insecurities from both sides.
