She is a graduate of UC Berkeley and has taught at various colleges and universities, including The New School for Social Research in Manhattan. She lives in San Francisco with her husband and two teenage daughters. Her stories are quick and as teasing as a coin trick: "He liked to take pictures. He liked to be in pictures.
