Carly and Jake meet in her junior year of college and his junior year of medical school. But they have different goals; hers is to work for one of the biggest tech startups in LA. She lands a lucrative position with the company before she even graduates.
Jake wants to do an Internal Medicine residency at Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia. Match Day is March 18th, and their relationship hangs in the balance. When it happens, he gets his choice; he’s going to Philadelphia and he has to go in June.
They try the long-distance romance for a couple of months, but it doesn’t work, and sadly, they break up.
Segue to five years later; after the pandemic, due to a struggling economy, Carly loses that coveted job. But Grannie Morris has a surprise; she’s retiring and wants to offer Sugarloaf Pie Company, to Carly.
Grannie sticks around for a month to help Carly transition in the take over. A frequent customer is Marylou Kaiser, Restaurant Business Magazine’s bakery editor and pie enthusiast. She writes a monthly column and highlights Sugarloaf’s custard apple crumb pie. Carly doesn’t know that a national food chain, Baker’s Dozen has taken note and has sent one of the partners to check out Sugarloaf Pie Company.
In the meantime, a new customer has shown more than a casual interest in not just pie, but especially in Carly. Foodie, Luke Devereaux just purchased a cabin on the lake and is exploring the town’s many offerings.
