800 BC
Eight centuries before the birth of Jesus of Nazareth, the religions of older gods still held sway over the civilized world. It was in this era of antiquity, before the great religions converted the people of the world and condemned the ancient arts of magic as works of the devil, that a council of seven of the great city's most powerful magicians came forward to announce they had banished Namtar, the black-winged demon and fallen elder God, to the Abyss.
But it did not end. Rumors, spoken in hushed tones in the most quiet and private places, told of dark forces within the city; the legacy of an evil thought to have been forever banished. Many men, the brave and the foolish, sought out the dark clergy. Some ventured into the dark clergy's lair to confirm its existence, some in hopes of destroying it.
Only one man returned from their secret city, and it was his words that brought The Black Day, the Cult of Namtar, into knowledge and legend. For over two thousand years The Black Day continued to operate in almost perfect secrecy...until now...
