Kirkus Reviews
American anthropologist is not pleased to discover he's inherited a castle and land in the Highlands, thousands of miles away from his home in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Taggart Morgan II's grasping, abusive father never said one word about it before his death and no one in Rogues Hollow knew either: not Tag's bad-boy brothers and not even his mother. Dutiful to a fault, Tag heads for Scotland-and is immediately captivated by the intriguing beauty of the woman he meets there. Maura Sinclair, a writer, grew up in castle Ballantrae and knows all about its history and the legends that surround it. Tag seems eager to learn, so she fills him in on Celts and Picts and Druids whilst the wild wind blows and the sweet heather sends forth its stimulating scent o'er the rugged moors. Without central heating, Tag and Maura find new and ingenious ways to warm each other up, night after night. But, betrayed by a former lover, Maura doesn't quite trust Tag, and she hides her fear that he will sell her beloved Ballantrae. Perhaps he won't when he understands the centuries-old bond between the Morgans and Sinclairs-and what better place to teach him of that than in her loving arms?A more complex romance than usual from Kauffman (The Big Bad Wolf Tells All, 2003, etc.), with plenty of hot sex.
