Edward Kay

Edward Kay is an award-winning author and screenwriter with an eclectic background in both live-action and animated television, as well as fiction and print journalism.

Edward was a senior staff writer and producer for Canadas most popular political satire show, the International Emmy nominated This Hour Has 22 Minutes, during its four most successful seasons.

In the United States however, Edward is best known as the co-creator and writer of the darkly humorous animated comedy series for Disney XD, Jimmy Two Shoes, about an irrepressibly optimistic young altruist who, following a fatal misadventure, finds that he has accidentally been sent to hell instead of heaven. The series was a worldwide hit, and in addition to airing in the U.S., was popular with television audiences throughout Europe, Great Britain, South America, Australia and the Far East.

Edward recently completed his first work of adult crime fiction, At Ropes End.

He has written three previous novels, all for YA readers: the critically acclaimed sci-fi series STAR Academy and STAR Academy: Dark Secrets, as well as Sink and Destroy, a work of historical fiction about the epic Battle of the Atlantic during World War 2.

Edwards writing has garnered him numerous awards and nominations including three Canadian Screen Awards, three Canadian Comedy Awards, and two Japan Prize Finalist designations for best educational writing.

Prior to becoming an author and screenwriter, Edward spent six years as a freelance journalist, covering a diverse range of subjects including crime, science, literature, the arts, architecture and business.
