Born and raised in Peoria, Illinois, James Klise went to college in Washington, DC and graduate school in Columbia, Missouri, and later earned an MFA from Bennington College in Vermont.
For many years, James paid the bills by pouring coffee; reviewing books; handing out dental floss at tradeshow booths; writing PR materials about fancy French cookware, fitness equipment, and candy bars; and teaching. Now James has the best job of all: managing a high school library in Chicago. He also advises the schools literary journal, book club, and gay-straight alliance.
The Art of Secrets is Jamess second novel. His debut, Love Drugged (2010), was a Stonewall Honor book, an ALA Rainbow List selection, and a finalist for the Lambda Literary Award. In addition, his essays, reviews, and short fiction have appeared in the Chicago Tribune, Chicago-Sun Times, StoryQuarterly, New Orleans Review, Southern Humanities Review, Ascent, Souwester, and elsewhere. - See more at: http://algonquinyoungreaders.com/author/james-klise/#sthash.54746Akg.dpuf
