In Insatiable, author Marne Davis Kellogg introduces readers to a new and captivating character -- Jacqueline du Fidelio, a talented portraitist for the extremely rich and famous. Known for her acclaimed Lilly Bennett mystery series (Tramp, Nothing but Gossip, Birthday Party), Kellogg now delves into the dark, dangerous, and alluring realm of high-class crime.

Told from the witty and acerbic point of view of Nigel Weatherby-Smythe, Jacqueline's butler and closest friend, Insatiable begins with the clock ticking down to Jacqueline's much-publicized execution. She has been charged with the murder of her lover Ryder McCormick's invalid wife. But did she really kill the poor woman by shooting her in the head and then pushing her wheelchair into a lake?

Insatiable then flashes back three years to detail the events that led up to the ill-fated day of the murder. Although one of the most celebrated and sought-after portrait painters in the world, Jacqueline then found herself on the brink of bankruptcy, with the IRS breathing down her neck. Rather than face stiff jail time for tax fraud, Jacqueline agreed to work with the IRS to spy on the internationally renowned art dealer Armand Weil and determine whether or not he is responsible for the theft of several priceless paintings.

Thus begins Jacqueline and Nigel's adventures, which take them from the lush farmland of Virginia to the glittering art world of New York, from the exclusive playground of the rich in Aspen, Colorado, to the desolate mountains of Nepal. At every turn, Jacqueline is faced with the fear and trepidation of discovery, as she and Nigel try to uncover who the thief really is.

But Jacqueline might not be as innocent as she appears. Destruction and murder seem to follow her wherever she goes. Yachts explode, food poisoning mysteriously occurs during gallery openings, people fall from cliffs, and deaths abound -- particularly for the Paynes, a rich and powerful family of art patrons. As the tension mounts, readers will slowly discover the reality of Jacqueline's dark and secret past and her strange connection to Ryder McCormick, Armand Weil -- and the Paynes.

With cuttingly sharp humor and vivid descriptions of a world few of us rarely see, Insatiable is a fast-paced suspense thriller that will have readers eagerly awaiting the return of Marne Davis Kellogg's fascinating and irreverent characters -- Jacqueline du Fidelio and her trusty servant, Nigel.
