Jonas Lamb is a lost sheep. He's always taken risks and played life's game by his own rules. Now, after a trail of broken marriages and an endless roller-coaster ride from fortune to bankruptcy and back again, Jonas has one last chance to turn his life around.
His greatest regret is that he never had much of a relationship with his son. But now Patrick is back in Jonas's life. A genetic engineer, his son comes to him with news of a groundbreaking discovery - code-named Black Sheep in honor of Jonas - that could revolutionize energy markets, putting oil companies out of business and turning the world economy on its head. All Patrick needs is his father's help in finding financial funding.
Jonas sees the opportunity of a lifetime. If he plays his cards right, he can redeem himself with his child, win the heart of Patrick's mother - the only women he had truly loved - and become one of the wealthiest men on earth.
The problem is that somehow, someway, worked of Black Sheep is leaked to all the wrong people and Jonas finds himself in the middle of an international crisis. No one wants Jonas Lamb to succeed - not the oil companies, not the Arabs, not even the White House.
As Jonas pits his wits, considerable charm and sheer nerve against spies, femmes fatales and hit men, he knows that the stakes have never been higher. Because he is risking everything he has - including his own life - for one last chance to win everything he has ever wanted.
