Well what the heck are you starin' at? It ain't my fault that my crazy mother Nettie decided to take off yet again and drag our sorry asses to that goddamn stupid hometown of hers. And it sure as hell ain't my fault that some stupid kid went missin'.

Heck, if you must ask—instead of mindin' your own goddamn business like polite people should—I was only tryin' to be helpful when I told the police I knew where the missing boy was. It weren't exactly a lie, I was just tryin' to get people to like me. How was I to know the whole stupid town would believe me? It weren't my fault things happened the way they did. And it sure as hell weren't my fault one thing led to another, like a string of goddamn firecrackers—Pop! Pop! Pop!—till someone ended up dead. And all because I wanted to find the lost boy.
