Like many in her family, Anne Spencer Lindbergh began writing when she was a child and didn't stop until her untimely death in 1993. She is best known, and best loved, for her thirteen books for children, but her talents embraced many genres, and we are proud to present here a selection of her work as a poet.
Introduced by Noel Perrin, her last husband, constant companion and fellow farmer, these poems testify to an ear for language that had near-perfect pitch and a talent for reflection that was honest, probing, and without self-pity.
