Jacob Asch never really considered himself a private detective. He was just an out of work investigative journalist who had had a few hard breaks and would be back in there filing copy again just as soon as he could clear his record. And when he got himself involved in investigating cases like the ritual sacrifice of wealthy girl about town Sheila Warren, he felt more like an amateur then ever.
