The eighteenth adventure in a Mountain Man series from Ash Lingam!

When the mountain men heard the fur trading companies cancelled the Rendezvous, nobody believed such a prosperous business could disappear in a single year. The prior summer of 1840 saw over five hundred trappers, fur traders, Indians, and hawkers attending. Only a few dozen puzzled trappers appeared when Rusty Steel, Levi Johnson, and their party arrived in Daniel, Wyoming, in 1841. They realized they had to sell their pelts someplace before they continued to drop in price and weren’t worth a plug nickel.

The top hat market suddenly vanishes, forcing them to reconsider what they could do to earn a living. Against their better judgment, they found the only solution was to become buffalo hunters. They made this difficult decision, despite the feelings of the Indian tribes in Yellowstone Valley and the mountains above. They didn’t like white trespassers taking food out of their mouths.

Levi Johnson, Rusty Steel, and friends head for the nearest trading post—a two-week ride to Fort Boise. After a kind welcome from a French Canadian, an old enemy recognizes Dahteste has her arrested and orders the Fort Boise commander to hang her at noon the following day. How will the mountain men rescue the same woman who saved them from Wood Duck and his evil gang?
