How I dislike those words. Especially when they are applied to me, Miss Seraphina Standhope, by my newest guardian: Frances Darrington, the Duke of Langley.
No one expected this... tradesman from the wilds of India to infiltrate polite society. Everything is business to him. And: until I reach the age of majority or marry, I fear we are stuck together.
Mr. Darrington—as he insists we call him-lost much of his polish in the Bengali jungles. He doesn't realize English society is a tangle all its own. He must rise to the title.
