Cassidy Lucas recommends
The Cage (2022)
Bonnie Kistler
"From its audacious opening scene to its wallop of an ending, The Cage is a delicious thrill-ride of breakneck twists and turns, underpinned by complex characters ensnared in risky relationships. Evoking Grisham and Highsmith, Bonnie Kistler is a masterful plate-spinner of plot, deftly weaving together the worlds of fashion, high finance and white-shoe law to reveal their seamiest secrets and shared underbellies, all via characters who live, breathe, and scare the hell out of us on every page."
Lights out in Lincolnwood (2021)
Geoff Rodkey
"Lights Out in Lincolnwood is an instantly addictive, high-velocity tale of domestic tumult set against the beginning of the end of the world. Teeming with suburban pathos, crackling humor, and disarming tenderness, this novel brilliantly reveals that nothingnot even the impending collapse of civilization as we know itimperils us more than our own weaknesses and desires. Rodkey has crafted an emotionally intelligent, ultra-modern family comedy that upends our expectations at every turn and exposes the fundamental messiness of human connection."
