It’s 1981, and Sergeant Dre Savage, a young, ambitious U.S. Army MP, gets assigned to remote Fort Rapture near the Canadian border. His wife Rhoda, pregnant with Piper, decides to remain in Red Thistle, Virginia, a part of the D.C. suburbs. While he misses her, Dre investigates the three murders of Army nurses. With the aid of Corporal Palakiko, they fail to get their main suspect, Kenneth Oscuro. 24 years later, Dre, now an empathetic private eye and recent widower in Red Thistle, contacts Lizzie Tong, an old high school flame and recent divorcée. They begin an email exchange as their youthful romance reheats. Meantime with his daughter, Piper, also a private eye, Dre takes on the cold case murder of Noel McElwaine, an Iraq War veteran. After a vigorous investigation, he suspects from the clues he’s uncovered that Oscuro has struck again and killed Noel. Then, in an abandoned warehouse, the events spike to an explosive climax, and Dre is in the fight for his life.
