Marie Antoinette was fifteen when she married the Dauphin. Coming from a loving family, she was ill-equipped to meet the problems which faced her. Isolated from the world, she existed in a hot-house atmosphere in which the most important event was the choosing of a new gown. When her husband became King and began to institute reforms it was already too late. The blame for the nation's ills was laid at the door of the Austrian woman. Slowly but relentlessly the people hunted Marie Antoinette down, depriving her of everything before moving in for the kill.
