The Man-Eaters of Cascalon
(1979)(The fourth book in the Saga of Dirshan, the God-killer series)
A novel by Gene Lancour
Dirshan - the central character and voice in this novel - was my literary first child. I've written a lot of novels since this first effort over forty years ago; but his adventures in the first four books have recently garnered a lot of interest. So much so that I was prompted to rewrite him into some new ones that continues his life as he became Emperor of Alithar and then evolves into the living force of chaos as the Tilter of Worldes. But this is the fourth one that tells of his life, rewritten to reflect changes in his life that emerge as he rises from the beginning. It removes a lot of the incongruities I discovered on rereading it and adds a glossary This will hopefully make it a much more enjoyable read. I'm still getting fan mail about the early Dirshan novels (see back cover copy), but enjoy it for yourself. I've already secured a website (Tilter of Worlds) and will soon be activated. There you will find things like a long timeline of Dirshan and the Worlde, a complete set of interactive maps, extended glossaries and extended information about the whole series. I hope you will take advantage of it. Feel free to email me on your reactions as I now have the leisure to change it...
